Sometimes life takes on a "life" of its own. Things can become overwhelming, relationships become strained, work or school become more difficult and you need someone to help you sort things out. Therapy is an excellent way to receive the support and space you need to help figure things out! As a feminist therapist I specialize in helping women who are going through life transitions, a major life crisis or who are dealing with anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, sad, struggling in relationships or who have gone through a traumatic event. I am also a trauma expert and can help you if you have gone through traumatic events or had a bad childhood that interferes in your ability to have strong relationships now.
I have over 25 years experience helping women, teens and families find their way through overwhelming or difficult circumstances. Much of my work has focused on survivors of rape/sexual assault and childhood abuse, particularly sexual abuse, incest, and physical & psychological/verbal abuse. I have also dealt with many people who suffer because they were neglected, had alcoholic/drug addicted parents or who were physically abused and now feel a sense of disconnect or low self-worth as a result. Abuse in childhood reaks havock on adult relationships, can impact your experiences in education, the work place and often leads to drug and alcohol abuse. I also deal with couples and families trying to deal with overwhelming circumstances or strained relationships.

I work with individuals, children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and I also run support groups. My clients are typically women who are having problems with depression, anxiety, relationships, changes in life or life transitions. I also specialize in people who are survivors of childhood or adult abuse/trauma. I help women who seek feminist therapy for typical life issues, trauma or hx of childhood abuse/sexual abuse/assault or rape; men who want therapy for emotional problems or trauma/rape/sexual assault; parents and teens dealing with teens in trouble; teens and adults who are dealing issues of sexual or gender identity or want a therapist who is sensitive to these issues; clients from all ethnic and racial backgrounds. I do work with depression, anxiety, trauma, childhood abuse, grief/loss, relationship issues, parenting support, mood disorders, PTSD, and dissociative disorders. As stated before, as a team we serve a wide variety of clients and help people with a variety of different issues. If I am not skilled in a certain area, then I have another therapist who is! Payments/Condition :

You get what you pay for. If you want better services, you pay for them, but don't let that scare you! We do work with you to make therapy accessible. We do not accept insurance typically because we am very concerned for your privacy and the confidentiality of therapy. Just so you know, insurance companies require therapists to meet a critera known as "medical necessity" when requesting payment from insurance companies. This term means that you need therapy because medically it is necessary for you. In other words, you must have a psychiatric illness that requires medications, even if you don't take them. Otherwise we don't get paid. That follows you for the rest of your life. It can be used against you to deny medical coverage, in court it can be brought up as a concern for your stability.... And the truth is most people are seeking therapy because they have a life issue. To protect YOU we strongly advise against using insurance. Instead we offer a negotiable fee, payment by cash, check, money order, debit card, credit cards. We also offer payment plans. We do provide a superbill if you want to submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement. I am on Aetna and Blue Shield's PPO panels but I will discourage you from using them. WE DO TAKE VICTIMS COMPENSATION.

I am a Licenced Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a Board Certified Expert in the Treatment of Acute and Traumatic Stress. I am a Trauma Specialist and have specialized training in the treatment of childhood abuse issues, sexual abuse/incest, rape/sexual assault, trauma of all kinds, survivors of homicide/suicide or sudden loss of a loved one. I am trained through the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation in the treatment of trauma and dissociative disorders. I have been trained in Part I & II for EMDR. I am a Feminist Therapist and an Adolescent Specialist. I am trained in sandplay therapy and use creative therapy approaches to make the experience enriched and rewarding. You'll get more out of me than most traditional therapists.

I am available Mon-Fri 11am-9:00pm and every other Sat 10am-7pm.
Fri 8am-9pm and Sundays 10am-9pm (Santa Monica only)

I work with a couple of other therapists who help me. I employ them and they are top notch! I am not a company or an organization. I am a therapist who believes in providing quality services and thus hire people who are highly talented and skilled like me! They all are very experienced and have significant knowledge and expertise to enhance the services I am able to offer. When you call, you will speak with either myself or one of these therapists. I assess every case to be sure that you recieve the right person to assist you!
