Because sometimes... you need more than a friend... Sanity for the Insanity of Life!
I am a Licensed MFT, a Feminist Therapist, a board certified expert in traumatic stress and the founder of the LA Trauma Therapy Specialists, a group practice of highly experienced, well-trained therapists who are commited to helping people who have gone through traumatic incidents or events. We deal with a variety of therapeutic issues; we aren't limited to helping trauma survivors, but because we are experts in trauma we are much more skilled than your "average therapists." We are trained to handle a variety of situations, personalities and difficulties people typically experience in life! All of our therapists have over 15 years experience helping people (except for one intern who is highly skilled in working with children).
We are also different than clinics or larger psychotherapy providing organizations because are in private practice. We own our businesses, we aren't just employed by a company. This means we have a greater interest in, and are fully dedicated to ensuring you get this best quality care we can deliver! You won't experience some of the problems you typically encounter in traditional companies, clinics or hospitals. For example, you won't suddenly change therapists because your therapist quit or his/her internship was up. You won't have to go through several people to finally get the services you are seeking. You're first call will be taken by a therapist, not an "intake coordinator" or a receptionist.
We deal with a variety of different therapeutic issues, not just trauma, but this is an area of expertise that we offer. We work with:

Relationship Problems - we offer couples and individual therapy. Because we are a group of therapists, we have a variety of options to help you and your relationship. We can communicate with one another so you get the best help and support possible! However, unlike clinics, we are in private practice so the service you get is much better!
Life Crises or Life Events - common every day problems that are hard to deal with, such as relationship break ups, divorce, parenting, struggling with family problems or changes in your life (life transitions), difficulties at work/school....

We work with individuals, children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups. My clients are typically women who are having problems with depression, anxiety, relationships, changes in life or life transitions, or who are survivors of childhood or adult abuse/trauma. I help women who seek feminist therapy for typical life issues, trauma or hx of childhood abuse/sexual abuse/assault or rape; men who want therapy for emotional problems or trauma/rape/sexual assault; parents and teens dealing with teens in trouble; teens and adults who are dealing issues of sexual or gender identity or want a therapist who is sensitive to these issues; clients from all ethnic and racial backgrounds. I do work with depression, anxiety, trauma, childhood abuse, grief/loss, relationship issues, parenting support, mood disorders, PTSD, and dissociative disorders. As stated before, as a team we serve a wide variety of clients and help people with a variety of different issues. If I am not skilled in a certain area, then I have another therapist who is! Payments/Condition :

You get what you pay for. If you want better services, you pay for them, but don't let that scare you! We do work with you to make therapy accessible. We do not accept insurance typically because we am very concerned for your privacy and the confidentiality of therapy. Just so you know, insurance companies require therapists to meet a critera known as "medical necessity" when requesting payment from insurance companies. This term means that you need therapy because medically it is necessary for you. In other words, you must have a psychiatric illness that requires medications, even if you don't take them. Otherwise we don't get paid. That follows you for the rest of your life. It can be used against you to deny medical coverage, in court it can be brought up as a concern for your stability.... And the truth is most people are seeking therapy because they have a life issue. To protect YOU we strongly advise against using insurance. Instead we offer a negotiable fee, payment by cash, check, money order, debit card, credit cards. We also offer payment plans. We do provide a superbill if you want to submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement. I am on Aetna and Blue Shield's PPO panels but I will discourage you from using them. WE DO TAKE VICTIMS COMPENSATION.

I am a Licenced Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a Board Certified Expert in the Treatment of Acute and Traumatic Stress. I am a Trauma Specialist and have specialized training in the treatment of childhood abuse issues, sexual abuse/incest, rape/sexual assault, trauma of all kinds, survivors of homicide/suicide or sudden loss of a loved one. I am trained through the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation in the treatment of trauma and dissociative disorders. I have been trained in Part I & II for EMDR. I am a Feminist Therapist and an Adolescent Specialist. I am trained in sandplay therapy and use creative therapy approaches to make the experience enriched and rewarding. You'll get more out of me than most traditional therapists.
